BgBOL, in partnership with the Biodiversity Genomics Europe project and iBOL Europe, is organising its first practical course on DNA barcoding and sequencing.
Participants will get a close look at DNA barcoding methods and have the opportunity to develop skills in practical biodiversity analysis using cutting-edge barcoding and high-throughput sequencing methods. Experts from various fields of biology - genetics, zoology, molecular biology, etc. will join the course as lecturers.
Speakers:
-
Spiros Papakostas - Associate Professor of Microbial and Molecular Ecology at the International Hellenic University
-
Konstantinos Gkagkavouzis - Postdoctoral Fellow at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki
-
Elisavet Kayettsidou - Academic Researcher at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki
-
Alexandros Triantafilidis - Professor at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki
-
Tomas Mamos - Associate Professor, Department of Invertebrate Zoology and Hydrobiology, Faculty of Biology and Environmental Protection
-
Alexandra Tokareva - National Museum of Natural History, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences
During the training, various laboratory techniques and bioinformatics approaches will be demonstrated to the students, with a priority on gaining practical experience in analysis and a focus on publishing data from this type of research.
Participation in the course will enable participants to join this dynamic community of internationally renowned researchers, stimulating their own research ideas.
The course is funded by the Biodiversity Genomics Europe project and is completely free for the participants. The working language of the course will be English.
