The Bulgarian Barcode of Life project (BgBOL) is a national network that brings together six research institutions and the scientific publisher Pensoft with the aim to establish collaboration on DNA barcoding in Bulgaria, and become a regional representative of the International Barcode of Life (iBOL) project.
The main objective of BgBOL is to develop a targeted, systematic and large-scale inventory of the diversity of major groups of organisms through the application of DNA methods in Bulgaria. BgBOL also aims to establish the widespread use of DNA barcoding outside the scientific community with a strong focus on biodiversity monitoring and management.
