ZoologyCon 2026 set to convene this November in Bucharest, Romania

The "Grigore Antipa" National Museum of Natural History announced the ZoologyCon 2026 international congress, scheduled to take place from 4 - 7 November 2026 in Bucharest, Romania. This scientific event aims to unite researchers across the spectrum of zoological disciplines, from classical taxonomy and genomics to ecology and public engagement.

Organised by the "Grigore Antipa" National Museum of Natural History, the conference will be hosted in partnership with the Romanian Academy and the University of Bucharest, alongside Pensoft serving as editorial partner. Among the invited speakers at the event will be BgBOL’s Chair and Pensoft’s Founder and CEO, Prof. Dr. Lyubomir Penev.

Key Dates:

  • Registration and abstract submission open: 1 April 2026

  • Abstract submission deadline: 30 June 2026

  • Notification of acceptance: 31 July 2026

  • Registration confirmation deadline: 15 October 2026

Proposals are invited for oral presentations and posters centering on six core themes:

  1. Biodiversity and Biogeography (Native, Non-native, and Invasive)

  2. Evolution, Systematics, and Integrative Taxonomy

  3. Paleoecology, Paleobiology, and Historical Biogeography

  4. Ecology, Behavior, and Conservation under Global Change

  5. Zoological Collections, Museums, and Research Infrastructures

  6. Zoology, Society, and Citizen Science
